This year has been a good one for the pony club teams that Mike helps to train.

The Waveney Harriers intermediate dressage team won the area qualifier and went on to come 2nd at the championships. It is great to see the senior members have their just rewards for all their hard work over the last few years. Their novice team won the area qualifier but then had bad luck with the weather at the championships, all the way up in Cheshire. Even so it was a great team effort and just shows what can be achieved by believing in good systematic training, focus and dedication. There`s plenty of practise organised for them again in 2011 and we are particularly working on bringing on the event teams. It’s been too long since winning the area horse trials and we are determined to do it again soon.

Posy Ash and Emily Blew have had another great year with their event horses. Both of them of them achieved the goals they set at the beginning of the season.

Posy achieving a place at the pony club championships and then completing the JRN championship at Weston Park at the end of a busy year having upgraded Krakatoa to intermediate. Emily completed several intermediates including a placing in the one star at Witchingham where she more than mixed it on Rosie with some well known riders. She had several good rides on her new horse Archie so we will be working hard again as soon as the weather allows in preparation for next season.

Catherine Valori and Sophie Barton, although away at school will to carry on with the training we`ve been doing over the last couple of years. Mike rides and trains their horses during the term time. Catherine hopes to do some intros and p.c. ode`s with her talented good moving five year old Charlie and Sophie expects to keep Neika quiet in the dressage arena and put the three disciplines together on her fiery xc machine. Alice has had a fantastic year on her 13hh pony Outstanding Account having won or been placed in every one day event in 2010.

At Isleham a particularly hard fought contest over Clem`s tricky course and in a big section had Alice third. Second in the Dunston Harriers eventer trial at Witchingham was a warm up for her coming third in the mini Bloom Trophy and the pressure was on from the beginning as they won at the Easton Harriers in April. “Lassie” suffered a bruised sole in the Bloom so “Sooty” had to step into the breach at the Riding Club Championship at Lincoln. They had a superlative round in the style jumping, landing up fourteenth out of a hundred and five. Their Deben junior team came fourth overall. Brilliant.

No pressure for next year! Can`t wait.
